Low Pressure Experimental Validation of Low-Dimensional Analytical Model for Air–Water Two-Phase Transient Flow in Horizontal Pipelines

This paper presents a low-pressure experimental validation of two-phase transient pipeline flow model. Measured pressure and rate data are collected for slug froth patterns at the low 6 bar National University Singapore Multiphase Flow Loop facility. The analyzed low-dimensional model proposed in comprises steady-state multiphase series with linear dynamic capturing transients. is based on dissipative distributed parameter transmission lines employing equivalent fluid properties. These parameters solely flowing conditions, properties geometry. OLGA simulations employed as an independent method to validate low-dimension Both models evaluated estimated transients varying gas volume fraction (GVF). within 5% mean absolute percent error laboratory data. Additionally, unavoidable presence entrained air confirmed case 0% GVF evidenced by estimation. Thus, dampened oscillations simulated exists owing increase compressibility.
